Camping

Rugged adventure, relaxation, fresh air, twinkling stars…the Great Outdoors

The Cable Area and the Chequamegon National Forest offer some of the finest camping opportunities, with spacious campsites nestled in wooded areas or beside a lake or stream.  The area offers many options for both public & private campgrounds or for those who really want to “get away from it all”, backcountry camping is permitted throughout the forest on public land and the rivers edge of the Namakagon River, as long as the site is located at least 30 feet away from any trail or water’s edge.

Dogs are allowed in National Forest Campgrounds but must be on a leash at all times, dogs are not permitted at swimming beaches.

Various businesses and private residence throughout the area offer firewood for sale. It is illegal to bring firewood from across state lines. You may remove downed trees and brush from the National Forest, but it is prohibited to cut any live trees from the forest.

There is an RV Dump Station at Two Lakes Campground on Lake Owen for a small fee for guests and non guests. Shower, pool, and sauna facilities are available at neighboring resorts.
