Trails are Open -- Posted on Wednesday, February 1 2012

The Cable Area snowmobile trails are in fair to poor condition. With most of the state having little to no snow, everyone has been hitting our Cable Area trails hard. Groomers have continued to groom in the overnight hours, with the last grooming being on Sunday night and a tentative grooming schedule for overnight hours when the weather allows this week. Trails are mostly flat but with heavy traffic and warm temperatures some bare spots are showing. Riding is still very possible in the Cable Area, stick trails on local lakes are safe and all trails in our area are open.

With 6 to 9 inches of snow on the ground this new snow will be a great addition to the base. The Namakagon Trail Groomers groomed over the weekend and plan to head back out onto the trails as soon as the snow is done falling. Surrounding counties have been grooming their trails as well, so it’s a great time to come up to the Cable Area to hit the trails!

Trail Report -- Posted on Monday, January 16 2012

Well winter is here, but not in our typical January fashion. We had a snowstorm come through mid last week giving us 8 to 10 inches of snow fall, but what fell was light and fluffy. Many riders hit the trails as soon as they heard we had snow, pushing much of the snow cover off the trails. Our groomer went out and knocked down as many bumps as possible over the weekend but trails are still in poor to fair condition. Riding is possible on our trails but understand that it is not typical January riding conditions.

We finally have snow! -- Posted on Friday, January 13 2012

We finally have snow! Mother nature dropped 8 to 10 inches of the white stuff onto us this week bringing our snowbase to around a foot. Trail groomers are scheduled to go out this afternoon and pack the trails. Riders are reporting good conditions. With grooming begining conditions will only improve! Snow continues to lightly fall, and temperatures will remain below freezing. More snow is forecasted for tomorrow, Wednesday and next weekend. You've all been waiting so patiently, wait no more, get to the Cable Area now!

Keep on dancing, its working! -- Posted on Wednesday, January 11 2012

Unseasonably warm temperatures last week have negatively impacted our trail conditions. We have downgraded our snowmobile trail conditions to poor. The groomers dragged most of the trail system prior to the warm weather but will not groom again until we receive another measurable snowfall.
For those of you simply ‘itching’ to get out and ride, you can do that in the Cable Area but please expect early season riding conditions. The stick trail is up on Lake Namakagon our area lakes.
Snow is forecasted for over night tonight and into tomorrow with up to 6 inches predicted. Keep on doing your snow dances!!

Warm Weather -- Posted on Friday, January 6 2012

Unseasonably warm temperatures on Thursday & Friday have negatively impacted our trail conditions. We have downgraded our snowmobile trail conditions to poor. The groomers dragged most of the trail system prior to Wednesday but the warm weather will not allow them to go out. They will likely not go out again until we receive another measurable snowfall.

For those of you simply ‘itching’ to get out and ride, you can do that in the Cable Area but please expect early season riding conditions. The stick trail is up on Lake Namakagon and will go up this weekend on Lake Owen.
