Trails are Excellent! -- Posted on Wednesday, January 6 2010
The Cable Area has the best riding conditions we have had in years! Don’t take our word for it, here’s what some people are saying! Bev & Joel from Pella, Iowa say “These are the best conditions we have seen in 20 years! We will be back to sled again at least three more times before the season is over!” Trail Groomer Bob says “If we could rate the trails anything above excellent, I would!”
Trails are being groomed on a daily basis covering the entire trail systems multiple times a week. Lake Namakagon stick trail is up and safe for riding, Lake Owen is safe for riding but the stick trail has not been put up yet, plans are to have the trail out by this weekend. Temps will be chilly this weekend so bundle up, temperatures will warm up by early next week to mid 20’s. Snow is in the forecast for this evening with accumulation up to 3 inches and more chances of snow on Thursday.
Post Storm Update -- Posted on Wednesday, December 30 2009
The storm of historic portions swept the Cable Area over the Christmas Holiday dropping up to 23 inches of snow on the Northland. All trails have been packed and groomed over the weekend. Snowmobilers are enjoying some of the best trails we’ve had in years. Light snow is falling with accumulation predicted to be 1 to 2 inches, and more light snow is in the forecast. The Namakagon Stick trail is planned to go up on Thursday, December 31st. The Stick Trail association is recommending, for your safety, to follow the marked paths across the lake and not to stop in large groups on the ice as some slush still lies on the icy surface. Don't forget to pick up your 2010 Cable Area snowmobile maps before you hit the trails, as a few routes have changed. Maps are available at area businesses, or email for your new set before you head to the Cable Area.
Storm of the Century! -- Posted on Thursday, December 24 2009
In case you haven’t heard, a storm of historic proportions is hitting the Cable area! So rather than sit here and update this report, we are hitting the trails! Lakes are still reporting unsafe ice thicknesses, but most trails allow alternate routes that don’t cross the lakes. With 16-24 inches of fresh snow on its way and the groomers going out as soon as the snow tapers off, we will have some of the best holiday riding conditions we’ve had in years! So get off the computer, load up your sleds, and get you’re butts up here! See you on the trails!
