Pastels: Paint Flower Gardens with Diana Randolph

Use your own photos of lush flower gardens as inspiration as you create pastel paintings on paper. Layer pigment of dry pastel sticks (not oil) on paper, focusing on composition, color and texture.  The instructor will demonstrate various techniques of pastel painting including linear and sidestrokes on several types of paper. Practice exaggerating the center of interest (focal point) with more texture and contrasts of color to obtain a vivid painting. You’ll have the opportunity to view the Museum’s exhibit, “Bee Amazed,” about pollinators. All levels are welcome, though basic drawing experience is helpful. Please note: this class is being offered two days in a row. You may sign up for one or both. 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Museum. Cost is $63 for both days or $31.50/one day. Participants may bring a sack lunch, or lunch may be ordered in class from the Brick House Café. There is a supply list for this class. To register please call WITC at 715-682-4591, ext. 3170.
