Leatherwork: Making Jess Bracelets

October 19, 2019
Part of the Wisconsin Science Festival

For centuries, falconers have used simple leather straps (called jesses) on the legs of trained raptors. Learn how to make a jess and turn it into a fashionable bracelet for yourself at the Cable Natural History Museum. You’ll also get a chance to see the other equipment we make for our education raptors. This leatherwork uses sharp cutting tools. Ages 12 and up. 12:30-1:30 p.m. Pre-registration preferred, drop-ins are also welcome. For more information and to register go to www.cablemuseum.org or call 715-798-3890. $5 per bracelet.
