Cable Area Off Road Classic Important Racing Information
Annual Spring Mountain Bike Race Kicks Off the Biking Season
The Cable Area Off Road Classic consists of two race courses, an 20 mile and a 25 mile point to point mountain bike race in and around the Chequamegon National Forest, Sawyer and Bayfield County Forests including some of the famous nationally recognized CAMBA trails, the Best in the Midwest & the Cable Area of Northern Wisconsin.

17th Annual Cable Area Off Road Classic

Times are approximate & are subject to change depending on trail conditions.

Friday, May 18th
4:30pm – 6pm Cable Area Off Road Classic small reception for racers. We will have food, info on area trails, proposed Cable Classic Trail, race info for Saturday with new course changes and 'experts' to give insight into what the weather and trails are like.
4:00pm – 8pm Bib Pick Up & Race Registration at Lakewoods Resort, (as you head East into Cable and go out of the town of Cable on Hwy M towards Lake Namakagon you will see Lakewoods Resort on your left - 21540 County Road M - Lakewoods #Phone (715) 794-2561
5:00pm – 9pm All You Can Eat Carbo Load-Pasta Dinner. Your choice of four sauces (meat, marinara, pesto and Alfredo) at Lakewoods Resort, 21540 Cty Hwy M (start location of the race)
Saturday, May 19th
7:00am - 9:30am Bib Pick Up & Race Registration at Lakewoods Resort, Bucks Bar is just inside Lakewoods Resort lobby area
8:00am - 10:00am Parking services at Lakewoods Resort provided by the Cable Area Lions
8:00am - 10:00am Wrenching Services by New Moon Bike & Ski at the start line.
10:00am 25 Mile Mass Start
10:15am 20 Mile Mass Start
11:00am - 3:00pm Food & Beer Garden at the Finish Line Tent
11:20am First 20 Mile Finisher in Cable
11:30am First 25 Mile Finisher in Cable
12:00pm 25 & 20 Mile Podium
12:00pm - 3:00pm Shuttle Bus from Cable to Lakewoods
12:30pm - 2:00pm Swag Giveaway. Bib numbers will be randomly selected, check the board at the finish line to see if you won!
1:00am Kiddie Klassic 5k Mile Fun Ride (for children ages 5 -11)
2:00pm Awards Ceremony at Finish Line Tent

Services Offered
BAG DELIVERY
Racer bag delivery will be provided again this year. Pick up your bag at bib pick up. On race morning place your bag into the appropriate trailer for which race you are registered in. The bags will be in numerical order at the finish line tent.

WRENCHING SERVICES
New Moon Bike & Ski will be available at the start line at Lakewoods Resort offering wrenching services from 8:00am to 10:00am.

BIKE WASH
A bike wash will be set up on the north side of the finish line. Feel free to use as needed.

FOOD STATIONS
Five food stations will be on the course. Water, Energy, GU Gel, Donut Holes, and Bananas are available at all stops. The local boy scouts, girl scouts and 4H clubs will be manning our stations.

GROUPS ASSISTING WITH BIKE RACE
Great Divide Riders ATV Club will be assisting with course clearing and set up, they will also be available to evacuate riders who wish to drop out of the race. Great Divide Ambulance and the Cable & Namakagon Volunteer Fire Departments will be available to assist with any injuries on the course. Be sure to thank our volunteers!

FINISH LINE FOOD & REFRESHMENTS
Angry Minnow Beer is a sponsor of the CAORC Race & will serve beer in the public tent near the race finish line. Brats, hot dogs, cookies, chips, soda and water will alos be available for a fee, ENJOY THE DAY! If you are not participating come to cheer on the racers. We welcome all racers and fans of mountain biking, road biking and if you just want to have some fun!

 

 

Course Description
CAORC Race Guidelines

Race Start Time 2011
20 mile: 10:00 A.M.
Minimum Age Requirement: 12 yrs.

25 mile: 10:15 A.M.

Minimum Age Requirement: 15 yrs.

Race Fees
$40 EARLY REGISTRATION Until May 1st
$50 RACE DAY

On Race Day:
All race participants receive a pair of race socks & entry into random drawings.

Race Start Location
Morning registration and start of both 20 & 25 mile courses at Lakewoods Resort. Lakewoods Resort is 7 miles east of Cable on County Highway M. If you need more detailed directions please contact the cable chamber.

Finish Line
The finish for both 20 & 25 mile races will be in downtown Cable, WI. Bus transportation to the start area will be provided. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in the 25 mile race. Blue Moon Pottery plaques or medals will also be presented to the top tandem and top 3 male and female finishers in five year age class categories in both races. Approved helmets required for all events.

Race Course 2010 RAVE REVIEW!
Several riders including CAMBA Board Members, Off Road Classic Participants and even Gary Crandall (Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival Director) have pre ridden the new long course and LOVE it! Riders are commenting on both the challenge and the amazing views. We are excited to hear from everyone at the conclusion of Saturdays race.
