| Cable Area Off Road Classic - Starts at Lakewoods Resort (on the only paved part of the course) then not far to trail for the best mountain bike racing in Northern WI. |
2011 Course Description continued...The course starts at Lakewoods resort, crosses County Rd. M and continues on Rock Lake Rd. which is a hilly gravel road for about 1.5 miles to the Rock Lk. 5 mile cutoff. Here you will take a right onto the moderately technical rocky single track and proceed to N5 where you will take a hard left and proceed to N8. Here you will take a right onto a fast downhill with a sweeping left turn at the bottom and ride past Rock Lake to N4 where you will take a left. With a long gradual climb you will emerge back onto Rock Lake Rd. where you will take a right. Rock Lake Rd. will gradually turn into a very rough and rocky forest trail. You will stay on this road for 1.0+ miles and hang a left just past Camp Four Lake. Hear you will ride a short half circle loop with scenic views of the lake. This section is single and double track with lots of roots. You will then emerge onto Rock Lake Rd. again and hang a left where you will proceed for about 1.5 miles and hang a right onto a rutted and sometimes muddy trail for about 0.5 mile and hang a right onto a semi-single track woods trail that will take you through some very remote country. You will gain a lot of elevation and suddenly find yourself on a long screaming descent where you will emerge onto a grassy snowmobile trail with a sweeping left hand turn. This trail will climb for about a half a mile and break into another long fast descent where you will take two right hand turns and follow double track down to a sandy bottom that skirts a bog on your left. Follow the double track to a left hand turn which will continue on a flat and take you over a berm and onto a climbing straight single track section until you a hang a left onto the Esker Trail.

You will stay on the wild ride of the Ojibwa up switch backs and through rock gardens to just past the North End trail head. Here you will take a left and quick right onto some fast rolling ski trails where you will merge with a portion of the Short N Fat and drop onto Randysek Rd.
